I am writing on behalf of Mr. Michael Campos and Zen Do Kai Martial Arts Association in Johnstown, New York. On Wednesday, May 13, 1998 Mr. Campos and six instructors of Zen Do Kai conducted a two hour self defense clinic at Union College, Schenectady, New York. The event was sponsored by a feminist political action group at Union, as well as an East Asian residential theme house.

I have been acquainted with Mr. Campos and Zen Do Kai since the summer of 1995. I have always been impressed with the quality of martial arts instruction, the professionalism, and the pleasant demeanor of everyone associated with Zen Do Kai. When a dozen women at Union College wished to hold a self defense clinic, Mr. Campos and Zen Do Kai was the first and only martial arts club we consulted.

The self defense/martial arts clinic conducted by Zen Do Kai was informative and impressive. I have always been struck by the seriousness and thoroughness in which Zen Do Kai operates. Mr. Campos opened the clinic with facts about crime, rape, and violence in America; he then proceeded to conduct a demonstration with more advanced members. For the next one hour and a half, Mr. Campos and other Zen-Do Kai instructors demonstrated various moves, while Union College women had the opportunity to actively participate in self defense techniques.

At the end of the evening, we felt more confident and knowledgeable about self-defense. Most importantly, we had a great time mastering the techniques and learning how to protect ourselves in a dangerous situation. The members of Zen Do Kai were helpful and personable; Mr. Campos and his instructors did a wonderful job of "breaking the ice" and giving us the courage to "punch" "grab" "kick" and "yell" if the situation presented itself.

I must say that the women at Union College were thoroughly educated in self-defense, and we had a great time in the process. Mr. Campos and Zen Do Kai has a long standing reputation in Fulton/ Montgomery Counties as providing excellent martial arts instruction. It is without reservation that I highly recommend Zen Do Kai Martial Arts Association.
