ABOUT SUPER SUMMER SEMINARS
The Super Summer Seminars martial arts camp was established in 1983 by Michael J. Campos,
Director of the Zen-Do Kai Martial Arts Association. Sensei Campos' goal was to create a
place and time for Martial Artists of any style or organization to meet and train
together so they could all improve their arts by learning from each other. Super
Summers has proven to be that vehicle. Every year 200-300 instructors
and students come for a weekend of fun, friendship, and training. More
than half of all participants are non-ZDK members. Participants have come from all over the
U.S. and Canada. We have even had participants from India, New Zealand,
Venezuela and Japan! Over the years SSS has hosted some of the most famous martial
artists in the world!.
Having been involved in martial arts since 1959, and having trained long
and hard in several different disciplines, Sensei Campos long ago recognized the beneficial effects
of martial arts cross-training. This knowledge has grown into what has become a summertime
tradition for many: a weekend long immersion in a variety of martial arts.

Ryu Karate.
Typically twenty or more instructors offer over forty seminars where the participants learn techniques and training methods as
varied as Aikido, Ju-Jitsu, Pencak Silat, Escrima, Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun, TaeKwonDo, Tai
Chi, ZDK system, Shotokan, Goju,, Muay Thai, Grappling, Sparring, Boxing, etc..
Additionally seminars are offered on topics like fitness and flexibility, business
operations, instructional skills, and the psychological and law enforcement aspects of the
martial arts.
1997 was a special year for Super Summer Seminars, as it was our
fifteenth year of promoting the harmonious exchange of information between Martial Artists
of all styles. In 1997 we hosted four of the most renowned martial arts instructors
in the world - Grandmaster Wally Jay, Master Tak Kubota, Joe Lewis, & Bill
"Superfoot" Wallace.
Super Summer Seminars has long been recognized as one of the best camps in the U.S. for
program, organization, and value. Prof. Wally Jay once said it was one of
the "best camps in the country."
The camp typically costs less than $200 for the entire weekend, this includes meals,
seminars, lodging, and entertainment. The camp is held at Colgate University in Hamilton,
NY (approximate center of NYS). Super Summers is open to any martial artist
regardless of style, system, or affiliation.
