HQ STAFF Students at the Zen-Do Kai headquarters in Johnstown have the benefit of training under several black belt instructors with a variety of educational, vocational and martial arts backgrounds. Sensei Campos instructs classes and oversees the staff at the studio. All of the ZDK staff are active learners and leaders. None have less than five years experience as students and several have a decade or more. The ZDK staff is proud of our club and the accomplishments of our students. Their dedication and hard work is evident in the performance of our members. Sensei Michael Campos - Kyudan Chief instructor at The Johnstown ZDK training center, Mr. Campos is also the senior ranking member and director of the Zen-Do Kai Martial Arts International Association. Sensei Campos retired (6/99) after spending 31 years in public education. He received his masters degree in education from Ohio University (1972). SENSEI CAMPOS WOULD LIKE TO RECOGNIZE THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF EACH OF THE FOLLOWING STAFF INSTRUCTORS TO THE CONTINUED SUCCESS OF THE HQ PROGRAM. THEY ALWAYS GIVE 110 % OF THEMSELVES FOR THE CLUB AND STUDENTS. Robert Streeter - Godan Like Mr. Damico, Mr. Streeter came to the Johnstown ZDK as a black belt in shaolin kempo. To his credit Mr. Streeter also trained rigorously under Mr. Campos and successfully passed his ZDK Shodan test and four subsequent advanced rank tests and has been training and instructing ever since. Mr. Streeter teaches the adult advanced and children's advanced classes at Johnstown and infuses his students with the desire to perform at an ever higher level. Mr. Streeter has become very adept with and competes frequently with the Japanese sword. He is currently ranked as a brown belt in Iaido. Mr. Streeter is employed by the New York State Conservation Department and also writes for hunting and fishing publications.
Angelo D'Amico -Yodan Mr. D'Amico came to the Johnstown ZDK as a black belt in shaolin kempo. To his credit Mr. D'Amico trained rigorously under Mr. Campos and successfully passed his ZDK Shodan test and three subsequent advanced rank tests and has been training and instructing at Johnstown ever since. Mr. D'Amico teaches the Adult advanced classes at Johnstown. His classes are noted for demanding ever higher performance from his students while addressing each student's special needs. Mr. D'Amico frequently travels for additional training in various martial arts. Mr. D'Amico is employed by General Electric and by the Fulton County Sheriffs Department.
Harry Tomlinson - Yodan Mr. Tomlinson, a contractor from Cobleskill. New York began his martial arts training under Mr. Davenport at the State University of New York at Cobleskill Zen-Do Kai program. Mr. Tomlinson instructs the adult beginner classes at the Johnstown studio. He is active in competition and recently competed in an area tin man contest.
Mark Hickok - Shodan Mr. Hickok was a successful competitor in the AAU. He has travelled and won at several AAU regional and national events. He is currently a student at UCONN where he is a kicker on the football team. Cara Nilsen - Shodan A graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University Ms. Nilsen is currently attending graduate school in California. She is noted for her not-so-gentle approach to personal self defense. She never misses the opportunity to visit, train, and teach when she is home. She is interested in Full-Contact Karate and has boxed and won in the amateur division in NY State. Regan Vogel - Nidan Mrs. Vogel owns and operates a convenience store in upstate New York. Mrs. Vogel teaches adult beginner classes with Mr. Tomlinson. She has traveled almost an hour each way to attend classes at the ZDK for years. Bonnie McKenzie - Nidan Ms. Bonnie McKenzie has been training for several years and instructs both the Junior Beginner classes and the Junior Advanced classes. She has been instrumental in helping to keep the children's program growing and has helped to institute several programs to build the club. Bonnie works for GE in Schenectady, NY. Steve Leonard - Shodan Mr. Steve Leonard is self-employed as a cabinetmaker. He also produces Adirondack style items (picture frames, tables, etc.). He instructs the Junior Beginner classes and has worked hard to build the program over the last several years. |
